World’s Greatest
Shave
wasofficially launched from the top of the Story Bridge on Wednesday 4th March at 8am
by ten year old leukaemia patient Aaron Richardson and media personality
Kimberley Busteed, who agreed to colour her hair orange for the
cause!
For ten year old Aaron Richardson,
climbing the Story
Bridge was one of many
exciting things to happen to him this week. Not only did he get to climb the
Story Bridge and launch World’s Greatest Shave he also got
to go home to the Sunshine Coast with his brothers and dad after
being away from them for nine months.
Aaron and his mum Stacey had been
living at the Leukaemia Foundation’s Clem Jones – Sunland Village on Brisbane’s southside while he has been
undergoing life-saving treatment.
Stacey Richardson said, “Aaron is
now in remission and is very excited about getting home to his brothers and
having a normal life again. Climbing the Story Bridge to launch World’s Greatest Shave is a very
exciting opportunity for Aaron – he has been talking about it for
days!”
The World’s Greatest Shave is now in its
eleventh year and more than 4000 Queenslanders have already registered for this
year’s event. The Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland is aiming to raise $3
million which will go towards supporting patients and their families living with
leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.
