With over 1,138 steps from start to finish, the Story Bridge Adventure Climb offers a brilliant way to take in some exercise, fresh air, great views and a totally new perspective of your home town. From the base of the spiral staircase which takes climbers to the bridge, around the bridge and back, climbers will put one foot in front of the other approximately 1,854 times.
Exhilarating but not arduous, the climb offers a 2½ hour activity which heightens the senses, gets the blood pumping and the muscles moving but in such a fun way, it barely feels like exercise!
The climb provides a great option for fitness clubs and sporting groups to give their members an entirely new challenge which can either be offered to individuals or as a group activity.
Exclusive group climbs (for groups with a minimum of 12 or more participants) can be arranged and special deals are available – information on these can be obtained from the group specialists in Reservations. Alternatively, individuals can join pre-scheduled climbs at dawn, daylight, twilight and at night. Climbers depart in groups of twelve (12) and a 20 minute interval is required between departures.
The climb is a safe, soft adventure experience which includes the briefing, safety demonstration and the climb route. Should schedules be tight, exclusive group express climbs of shorter duration can be arranged.
Group or individual photographs taken by the Group Climb Leader on the bridge are available for purchase from the SBAC Gift Shop and all participants will receive an official climb certificate as a memento. A comprehensive range of Story Bridge Adventure Climb merchandise is also available and includes quality clothing and gift items. If required, these can be personalised with corporate logos and/or team branding at additional cost.
A 12 seater mini coach can be provided by prior arrangement for transfers from one local CBD collection point.
For safety reasons, a person cannot participate in the Climb if their blood alcohol concentration is 0.05% or greater or they are under the influence of prescription or illicit drugs. In order to avoid any embarrassment, group organisers are requested to ensure that all climbers are supplied with advance information regarding requirements for footwear and clothing and are aware of the alcohol/drug restrictions.
